Nine steps from first phone call to final magnet-sweep. Here’s exactly what happens on your roof, in order.
Every re-roof we do follows the same disciplined sequence, from the first quote through to the final clean-up. Here’s our battle-tested workflow.
We start with a free consultation to understand your goals. Using advanced technology and aerial photography, we assess your current roof and discuss colour options, steel grades, and profile types — corrugated, trapezoidal, or tray. You’ll receive a detailed, fixed-price quote outlining scope and what’s included, with no surprises.
Our team carries out a comprehensive on-site roof inspection, taking precise digital and manual measurements. We check ventilation and drainage, site access requirements, and safety considerations. Where needed we liaise with other trades — builders, painters, electricians — to coordinate schedules. Custom-manufactured panels and flashings are then ordered to your exact specifications, ensuring the perfect fit and minimal waste.
Before anyone steps on the roof, we install edge protection and fall arrest. Staging areas for materials, tools and waste get set up off your driveway.
Once on site, we carefully strip the old roofing materials — whether old metal sheets, tiles, or shingles. All work is completed section by section to maintain weather protection and minimise disruption to the household. Old materials are safely managed and disposed of responsibly, with asbestos handled by a Class A licensed contractor where present.
With the roofing stripped, we inspect the substrate for rot, mould, or moisture damage and check structural alignment and fastening integrity. For tile-to-metal conversions, new purlins are installed to meet manufacturer specifications.
Every Solution Roofing™ quote includes up to 10 lineal metres of timber replacement for damaged purlins that aren’t appropriate for re-use.
We install high-performance underlayments for waterproofing. Self-supporting underlay and fire-retardant options are carefully chosen to suit the specific application and your home’s requirements.
Your new roof sheets are aligned and installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines. Correct overlaps, fastener placement, and alignment ensure maximum resistance to wind and rain — while delivering the uniform, professional finish that defines a premium long-run roof.
The roof is finished with colour-matched ridge caps, barge flashings, fascia trims, and seals.
Before handover, our team performs a detailed quality control check across every plane, flashing, and penetration. We then carry out a full site clean-up, including a magnetic sweep to collect stray nails or metal fragments. The result is a spotless site and a roof that’s storm-ready — backed by your manufacturer’s material warranty and our 5-year workmanship guarantee.
Profile, colour and steel grade — three choices that decide how your roof looks and how long it lasts. We’ll talk you through the trade-offs at the quote stage, with physical swatches you can hold up against your weatherboards before you commit.
We offer a selection of high-quality long-run metal options — corrugated, trapezoidal, trough, and tray — each with its own performance and aesthetic benefits. All our profiles are manufactured to New Zealand standards and backed by comprehensive material and workmanship warranties.
View profilesYour roof colour can transform your property’s street appeal. We offer ranges from trusted suppliers including ColorSteel™ and ColorCote — bold modern statements, natural tones that blend into the landscape, or heritage shades for a villa or bungalow. Our team will help you choose a colour that ties in with your cladding, trims, and surroundings.
Explore coloursIf you’re planning a re-roof or still exploring your options, it’s normal to have questions. Here are a few we hear most often about the roofing process.
Yes. We can remove your tile roof and install a lighter, more durable, long-run metal system. We’ll assess the framing and add purlins if required to meet structural and manufacturer guidelines.
It’s entirely project-dependent. Timing depends on weather, roof size, profile choice, access, and site complexity. We’ll give you a realistic schedule at the quote stage once we’ve seen the roof — not a generic average.
We include up to 10 lineal metres of timber replacement in every quote. If we find more extensive damage, we’ll document it with photos and provide a clear variation for your approval before proceeding — never as a surprise on the invoice.
No. We work in sections to make sure your property stays weather-tight throughout the process. Old roofing is removed and replaced in manageable stages, so your home is always protected against unexpected rain or wind.
A professionally installed long-run steel roof can last 40 years or more with proper care. Modern coatings, concealed fixings, and high-quality steel mean today’s metal roofs are designed for long-term durability in New Zealand’s varied climate.
All our roofing systems are backed by a dual warranty: the manufacturer’s material warranty (covering the steel and coatings) and our workmanship warranty (covering installation quality). This gives you peace of mind that your roof is protected for decades.
The cost depends on the size of your roof, profile choice, colour selection, and site conditions. Corrugated and trapezoidal profiles are generally the most cost-effective; tray and concealed-fix systems are premium options. We provide a fixed-price quote up front so you know exactly what to expect.

Send us your address and a couple of photos. We’ll quote in writing, walk you through the options, and stick to it. No deposit, no pressure.
