Who we are
Solution Roofing Limited (NZBN [TBC], “we”, “us”, “our”) is a New Zealand company providing residential and commercial re-roofing, repair, and roofing inspection services across Auckland and Wellington. Our registered office is 208 Ponsonby Road, Auckland 1011.
We are the “agency” under the Privacy Act 2020 in relation to the personal information described in this policy.
What we collect
We collect personal information when you contact us, request a quote, use our online tools, sign up to our newsletter, or become a customer.
Information you give us
- Name, email address, phone number, postal address.
- Property address and details about the roof you're asking us to look at.
- Photos or videos you upload to our estimator or visualiser tools.
- Any other information you choose to send us in messages or quotes.
Information collected automatically
- IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, pages visited.
- Cookie identifiers (see section 5).
Information from third parties
- Address validation and aerial imagery from public mapping services (LINZ, Google).
- Property records from public council databases for the address you supply.
Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- Reply to your enquiry, quote your job, and schedule and complete the work.
- Improve our website, estimator, visualiser, and the way we communicate.
- Send you transactional updates while a job is in progress.
- Send you marketing only if you've opted in — and you can opt out from any email we send.
- Comply with our legal obligations (tax, accounting, building consent records).
Estimator & visualiser
Our address-driven estimator and roof colour visualiser collect a small amount of additional information:
- Address — used to fetch aerial imagery and council records.
- Photos you upload — used to detect the roof shape, profile, and condition.
- Phone number — used only for SMS verification (one-time code) so we know we're quoting a real person.
Photos and address data are processed by AI services hosted in the United States (Anthropic, OpenAI, fal.ai). These services do not retain your data for training. Your data is deleted from their systems within 30 days.
How long we keep it
- Quote enquiries that don't become jobs: 24 months, then deleted.
- Customer records (jobs we completed): 7 years (required by tax and consumer-warranty law).
- Estimator and visualiser uploads: 30 days, then deleted from our blob storage.
- Marketing list: until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct any of it that's wrong.
- Ask us to delete it (we'll comply unless we're legally required to keep it).
- Withdraw consent for marketing at any time.
Email privacy@solutionroofing.co.nz with any of these requests. We'll respond within 20 working days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Security & storage
We store information in services located in New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and the European Union. All transmission is encrypted (HTTPS / TLS 1.2+).
We restrict access to personal information to staff who need it to do their job. We use multi-factor authentication on all admin accounts. We don't store credit card numbers.
Despite our best efforts, no online system is 100% secure. If a notifiable privacy breach occurs we will notify affected individuals and the Privacy Commissioner as required by the Privacy Act 2020.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. If we make a material change we'll let you know by email or by a notice on the website.
